Our mutual friends Jeana and Jay were having a party in anticipation of their wedding in early 2012. Sam had wandered up to their apartment, oblivious to the fact that Sarah was both (newly) available and interested. On the way to the bar – it was a pub-crawl type of thing – we bumped into each other on the sidewalk and found out that we were both Jewish and shared the same taste in movies (The Shawshank Redemption, A Few Good Men, The American President, and Clueless). Yes, Clueless was on Sam's list too. We fell in love almost immediately. And we can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together.
Sam proposed to Sarah on her father's organic blueberry farm in Hood River, Oregon on August 1, 2014. He hung the emerald-cut engagement ring from the liberty variety of blueberry bushes at the front of the property, with Mount Hood and Mount Adams as dueling backdrops. He was able to get Sarah over to the blueberry bush and asked, "hey Sarah, what is that?" pointing to the ring which hung from a string. "That's a blueberry bush," she responded quickly. He pushed again, "well what's on the blueberry bush?" to which she replied "that's a string, Sam." "Well what's on the string?"
Once Sarah figured it out, she was overwhelmed with tears of joy.
